PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jumanchi Gordo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Marcus Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jumanchi Gordo!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gordo shoots in for a takedown but Kent shows good takedown defense.

Gordo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kent to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kent not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Gordo is looking to stand up but Kent isn't so interested in that idea.
Kent is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Gordo is trying to keep Kent in close.
Kent content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Kent stays in close to Gordo's body and controls the position.

Gordo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kent chips away with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kent scoring with punches to the head and body.
Kent is looking to work some ground and pound but Gordo has wrist control.
Kent stands up over Gordo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Kent's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Kent seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Kent lands a couple of elbows.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gordo being controlled here, momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gordo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kent is controlling him.
Kent controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

We're going to have a standup here because Marcus Kent wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kent throws a low kick but it's checked well by Gordo.
Gordo lands with a hook. Kent tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gordo shoots in looking for a takedown. Kent tries to sprawl out of it but Gordo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kent manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kent drives through with a takedown into Gordo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Gordo looks winded!

Kent looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Kent slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kent working the ground and pound.
Kent has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Kent controls the position from side control.

Kent decides to stand back up.

Kent shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gordo napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gordo wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Gordo struggling a bit here.

Kent in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Gordo is tapping! That's the end of the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Marcus Kent!
Marcus Kent bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
