The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belfort connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Couture's hands.
It looks like Marcelo Couture has been cut.
Couture throws a body punch but Belfort moves out of range.
Couture moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Couture scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Belfort is looking for a sweep. Couture is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Belfort knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Couture on the ground.
Couture wants to pass the guard but Belfort is defending well.
Belfort avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Couture.

Couture tries to pass the half guard into mount. Belfort knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Belfort tries to roll over but Couture keeps him under control.
Couture throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Couture lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Belfort quite badly. Belfort pulls Couture in close trying to recover. Couture postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Belfort on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Belfort doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marcelo Couture!
Our winner, Marcelo Couture, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
