Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Wellington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wellesley BotterJr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wellington comes to the cage accompanied by Zebra Katz - Y I Do. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wellesley BotterJr! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wellington fails with an attempt to clinch.
BotterJr's corner calls for a 1-2. BotterJr obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. BotterJr shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wellington defends it nicely. BotterJr instigates a clinch. BotterJr is trying to force a seperation but Wellington has the dominant position. Wellington tries a body shot but BotterJr blocks it.
Wellington's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. BotterJr feints and as Wellington raises his hands in defense, BotterJr changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. BotterJr postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. BotterJr in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. This has been an exciting period of action! Wellington keeping moving, preventing BotterJr from controlling successfully. Wellington looking to hit a scissor sweep but BotterJr is one step ahead there. BotterJr trying to control the position from guard on top but Wellington is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

He's now in BotterJr's guard. Nice move by Wellington! BotterJr working a defensive guard but Wellington passes into half guard.
Wellington wants to take a breather but BotterJr is having none of it. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Wellington in particular looking to stall. BotterJr throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

BotterJr actively working from the bottom here. Wellington tries to pass the half guard into mount. BotterJr knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. BotterJr is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wellington's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wellington's back! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. BotterJr missing with strikes. BotterJr misses with a punch to the head.

Both fighters are looking very determined. Wellington covering up well under a barage of strikes. Wellington is breathing heavily. BotterJr tightening his grip on Wellington, looking for the choke. BotterJr sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Wellington forces BotterJr back against the cage and clinches. Wellington drops to a knee looking for a takedown but BotterJr gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Wellington closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Wellington trying to stall but BotterJr improves his position.
Maybe Wellington would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much. BotterJr is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. BotterJr tightens his grip and picks Wellington up, before dumping him to the ground. Wellington manages to land in guard. That was a close second round but I would say that Rick Wellington will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Wellesley BotterJr's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

That's going to take a lot out of Wellesley BotterJr. A decent looking cross lands there for BotterJr. BotterJr takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. BotterJr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wellington pinned against the cage. Wellington gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! The fight stays on the outside here - Wellington looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Wellington showing good wrestling skills to control the position. BotterJr thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

In favor of your winner, by split decision... Rick Wellington! After the fight, Rick Wellington was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
