Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Christopher McCormick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ursus Maritimus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McCormick comes to the cage accompanied by Shipping up to Boston. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Christopher McCormick! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ursus Maritimus! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Arvi Lind.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maritimus uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McCormick. McCormick misses with a wild combination.
McCormick connects with the punch. McCormick throws a leg kick and Maritimus counters with a shoot takedown. McCormick fights it but they end up in guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. McCormick has a closed guard, preventing Maritimus from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maritimus slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. McCormick looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maritimus is one step ahead there. McCormick has a closed guard, preventing Maritimus from standing up. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McCormick has control of Maritimus's left arm, preventing Maritimus from doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Christopher McCormick just wasn't active enough. McCormick throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Maritimus stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by McCormick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Maritimus. Nice shot lands for McCormick. McCormick does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Maritimus plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! McCormick lands a nice looking kick to the body. Maritimus takes a step back to recover. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McCormick lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. McCormick lands with a right hand. Christopher McCormick is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. McCormick looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Maritimus stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from McCormick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McCormick lets loose with a powerful body kick. Maritimus will feel that in the morning. McCormick throws a low kick but Maritimus avoids it. McCormick tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. McCormick lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. McCormick thows a body kick. Maritimus tries to catch it but that hurt him. McCormick throws a chopping leg kick but Maritimus manages to avoid taking any serious damage. McCormick throws a head kick that misses. McCormick scores with the left hand. Maritimus knows he should have avoided that one. McCormick with a hook. McCormick misses with a body kick. McCormick throws a sloppy head kick and Maritimus moves out of range easily. McCormick tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Maritimus paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCormick throws a solid leg kick but Maritimus takes the impact on his shin and smiles at McCormick. Maritimus shoots for a double leg takedown but McCormick sprawls well. He's pushed Maritimus's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. McCormick misses with a looping left. Maritimus looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? McCormick is fending him off so far but Maritimus persists. Nope, McCormick circles away and we're back to standing. McCormick scores with a sloppy right hand. Maritimus should have avoided that one. McCormick misses with a low kick.
McCormick looks to land a right hand but Maritimus moved out of range. McCormick goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Maritimus fails with a takedown attempt. Christopher McCormick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ursus Maritimus. McCormick avoids a low kick by using good footwork. McCormick wants to slow Maritimus down by chopping away at his legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A nice inside leg kick there by McCormick. That's going to slow Maritimus down. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Maritimus takes a shot right to the bread basket. Maritimus chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before McCormick can pounce on him.
McCormick throws out a loose jab but Maritimus uses good head movement to avoid it. McCormick looks to land a combination but Maritimus avoids it well. McCormick getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Maritimus has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from McCormick. A telegraphed right hand from McCormick misses the target. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! McCormick buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
McCormick fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Maritimus has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. McCormick pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Christopher McCormick dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
McCormick thows a leg kick but Maritimus checks it and Maritimus counters with a head kick. That will keep McCormick thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Maritimus lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. McCormick checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. A nice leg kick lands there from McCormick. McCormick buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Maritimus's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from McCormick. Christopher McCormick is winning the standup battle so far. Maritimus staying out of range there. McCormick bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. McCormick throws a body kick that misses. McCormick tries to land a front kick but Maritimus steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Maritimus misses with a takedown attempt - McCormick sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Horrible takedown by Maritimus or perhaps it was just good defense by McCormick which made him look bad.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maritimus on the wrong end of a nice jab. McCormick finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
McCormick lands a leg kick that knocks Maritimus off balance momentarily. McCormick catches Maritimus with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Maritimus is rocked! McCormick is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from McCormick shuts the power down on Maritimus. Lights out, game over! McCormick is your winner.
