Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Insual Renga! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Deon Walker! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Walker gets a double leg takedown into Renga's guard. Walker is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Renga keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass. Walker showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Walker working some strikes from top position. Walker controls from within his opponent's guard. Walker throwing strikes from guard but Renga blocks nicely. Walker throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Renga works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Renga escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Walker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Walker engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Renga looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Walker loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Renga wants to sweep here but Walker controlling him for the moment. Walker looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Walker keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Renga's head. Walker engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Walker stands up over Renga, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Walker slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Walker distracts Renga with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Walker is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Walker works a leg free and moves into half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Walker scoring with strikes to the body and head. Renga wants to get back to his feet. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Well, if Walker is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Walker works his foot free and advances to mount. Walker is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Renga is rocked! Renga taking shots to the head. Oh Renga is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Walker drops a big elbow. That's hurt Renga! More shots from Walker and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Deon Walker!
