Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Abott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Brandt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abott comes to the cage accompanied by The Winner Takes it All!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Abott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Tom Brandt!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brandt pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Abott shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Brandt's guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Brandt trying to keep a closed guard but Abott is proving a slippery customer.

Brandt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Abott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Tom Brandt wasn't active enough on the ground.

Brandt is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Abott.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Abott accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Brandt controls Abott momentarily but Abott frees himself.

Abott stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Brandt swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Brandt misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Abott loads up on a big right hand but Brandt slips the punch.

Brandt drops down looking for an ankle pick but Abott pulls his leg out and moves away.
Abott avoids the head kick by Brandt.
Abott wants to clinch.
Abott swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Brandt missing with a left hand there. Abott was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

Abott lands with a cross.

Abott closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Abott wants to pass the guard but Brandt is defending well.
Brandt is trying to get back to full guard.

Abott thows a huge punch but Brandt dodges it nicely.
Brandt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brandt on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Abott is trying to control the action in half guard but Brandt is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Abott clinches up with Brandt and pushes him back against the cage.
Brandt tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Abott smiles and moves away.

and Abott cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Abott throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Brandt tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Abott is in Brandt's guard.

Brandt has his foot on Abott's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Abott works his way back into a safe position though.

David Abott overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Abott got a little sloppy there for a moment and Brandt has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abott has managed to get both his arms back between Brandt's legs - danger averted.

Brandt controls Abott momentarily but Abott frees himself.
Abott passes Brandt's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Abott in particular looking to stall.
Brandt is looking to improve his position.
Abott looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Brandt with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.


The cut above Tom Brandt's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Abott wants to free his trapped foot but Brandt is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Brandt gets back to full guard.

Abott is sitting in close to Brandt's body. Brandt has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Abott is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Abott is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Brandt.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tom Brandt!
Our winner, Tom Brandt, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
