Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rod Cheney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rod Cheney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Harvey Grant! The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Cheney. Grant with a body punch. A glancing blow. Grant throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cheney on the side of the head. Cheney avoids the body shot from Grant.
Cheney swats away the attempt to clinch by Grant. Grant scores with a decent looking hook. Cheney throws a shot to the body.

Cheney drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Cheney thuds a left hand into Grant's body. A punch lands to the side of Cheney 's head but he takes it in his stride. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Grant throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cheney forces Grant back against the cage and clinches. Cheney is trying to break the clinch but Grant has him pressed against the cage. Grant wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cheney has him pressed against the cage. Grant has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cheney avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Grant keeps control of Cheney as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cheney avoiding damage.
Cheney tries to break the clinch but Grant is controlling the position. Grant is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Grant can't get the takedown.
Cheney tries to circle away but Grant has him pinned against the cage. Grant has had enough of the clinch but Cheney keeps him there for the moment. A head punch blocked on the inside by Grant. Grant wants a takedown but no success here.
Rod Cheney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Harvey Grant. Cheney has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Grant after a bit of a struggle. Grant keeps control of Cheney as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Cheney is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Cheney can't break the clinch.
Grant working hard to break the clinch. Grant wants to get back to striking at distance but Cheney won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Cheney drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A jab from Cheney misses. Cheney slips a jab and a cross from Grant.
Grant connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Grant fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Grant misses with an uppercut. Grant lands a nice looking body shot.
Cheney is breathing heavily. Cheney circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cheney steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Grant. Grant tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Grant scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Grant uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Cheney has time to react. Grant misses the jab. Grant wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grant throws out a powerful jab. Grant throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Cheney on the side of the head. Grant tries to close the distance and clinch but Cheney swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Cheney takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
A left lands for Grant.
Cheney is rocked! Grant drops Cheney with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Cheney looks back up at him and smiles so Grant waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Oh Cheney is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Cheney bobbing and weaving nicely... He's ducked under a jab and ducks again but ooooooh! Grant comes at him with an uppercut from hell! Cheney falls to the canvas, unconscious! This one is all over! Oh man, looking at the replay that was right on the button! Cheney was out before he hit the floor!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Harvey Grant!
