Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Christian Scott! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Naama Kala! The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scott shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kala but Kala pushes him off and we're back to square one. Kala looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Kala gets caught flat footed, as Scott shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Scott showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Scott trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Kala is trying to get back to half guard. Scott is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kala has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Scott is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kala knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Scott is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kala has escaped the position, nice work there. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kala can do anything to dispel that myth. Kala prevents Scott from improving position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kala tries to bench press Scott off him but Scott keeps the position. Scott is working to tighten is grip on Kala's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kala has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Scott is really squeezing tight and eventually Kala passes out! Scott breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
