The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clinton connects with a solid leg kick.
Tompson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Clinton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tompson pinned against the cage. Tompson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Clinton lands with a kick to the temple. Tompson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
The fight stays on the outside here - Tompson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tompson can do anything to dispel that myth.

Clinton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tompson for as long as he can get away with.

Clinton has hold of Tompson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tompson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Clinton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Clinton is nestled in close to Tompson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Clinton.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clinton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
