Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, George Clinton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Tommy Tompson! The judges for this bout are William Gold, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clinton connects with a solid leg kick. Tompson on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Clinton shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Tompson pinned against the cage. Tompson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Clinton lands with a kick to the temple. Tompson shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" The fight stays on the outside here - Tompson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. A swing and a miss from Clinton. Tompson tries to clinch up but Clinton circles away and keeps his distance. Tompson moves in looking to clinch but Clinton pushes him off. Tompson gets a clinch. Tompson tries a knee to the head but Clinton blocks it.

Tompson is pressed up against the cage. Clinton has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tompson down to the mat. Tompson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Tompson wants to clinch up but Clinton keeps it at a distance. Clinton looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Tompson! Tompson is being controlled here. Clinton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tompson on the ground. Clinton has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tompson can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Clinton seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Tompson for as long as he can get away with. Tompson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Clinton connects with a decent elbow. Clinton has knee on belly and moves into mount. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Clinton has hold of Tompson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Tompson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Tompson is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Clinton cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Clinton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tompson defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Clinton. Tompson is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Clinton controlling from mount. Clinton landing punches. Tompson really wants to buck Clinton off and get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Clinton looking to control and managing it successfully. Clinton landing punches. Clinton looking for a guillotine from mount but Tompson is having none of it. Clinton tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Tompson tries to clinch up but Clinton circles away and keeps his distance. That kick from Clinton tenderised Tompson's leg. Tompson is trying to keep his angry face on. Tommy Tompson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Clinton shoots in but no luck this time. Tompson leaves Clinton with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A telegraphed right hand from Clinton misses the target. Tompson moves in looking to clinch but Clinton pushes him off. Tompson is looking to clinch but Clinton is avoiding it.
Tompson is breathing heavily. Good work by Tompson as he checks the leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tompson wants to clinch. Clinton throws out a leg kick but Tompson moves out of range and Clinton only half commits. George Clinton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Clinton throws a poor cross that misses
and Tompson connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Clinton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Tompson sprawls well. Tompson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Clinton gets slowly back to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Clinton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Tompson tries to clinch but Clinton moves away and Clinton counters with a slapping leg kick. A leg kick checked by Tompson. Tompson moves out of range as Clinton strikes. Tompson closes the distance and pushes Clinton back into the cage.

Clinton tightens his grip and picks Tompson up, before dumping him to the ground. Tompson manages to land in guard. Clinton advances to half guard. Tompson is trying to stand.
George Clinton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Clinton is nestled in close to Tompson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Clinton trying to mount his opponent but Tompson defends it. This has been an exciting period of action! Clinton is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Tompson tries to kick Clinton off but Clinton keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of George Clinton. Clinton goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Tompson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Clinton. Clinton looks for the body kick but Tompson saw that one coming.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tompson stuffs the takedown. Tompson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Clinton swats him away and circles back towards the center. Tompson fails with an attempt to clinch.

Tompson looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Clinton lands a leg kick that knocks Tompson off balance momentarily. Clinton fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for George Clinton. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Clinton manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Clinton throws a push kick but Tompson slaps the foot to one side. A low kick from Clinton misses and Tompson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Tompson. Clinton is trying to stall.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to George Clinton. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Clinton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
