The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Monster doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Sanchez counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Sanchez tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Monster avoids it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Sanchez.
Monster can't break the clinch.
Sanchez lands with a short shot to the head.
Sanchez has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Sanchez jumps guard and drags Monster to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Monster drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sanchez looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sanchez looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sanchez!
Monster tries to buck Sanchez off but Sanchez is having none of it.

Monster is trying to stick to Sanchez's back but Sanchez is turning into Monster. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Monster's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Sanchez.

Sanchez wants to stand but Monster has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
