PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roman Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack The Ripper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Roman Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack The Ripper!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Ripper stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
The Ripper throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

The Ripper dives in and scores a takedown into Gracie's guard.
The Ripper tries to free his leg and advance position but Gracie is retaining full guard.
Gracie wants to stand up but The Ripper is controlling him.
The Ripper is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Gracie is trying to control the position but The Ripper postures up.
Gracie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because The Ripper is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Roman Gracie just wasn't active enough.

Gracie manages to get an easy takedown there - catching The Ripper on his heels. He'll look to pass The Ripper's guard now, I'm sure.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Gracie slips a jab and a cross from The Ripper.

The Ripper throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Gracie on the side of the head.
The Ripper closes the distance and clinches up with Gracie, looking for a takedown. The Ripper pushes Gracie against the cage but Gracie circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The Ripper connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

The Ripper seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Gracie dives in and grabs The Ripper's left leg, looking for a takedown. The Ripper pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
The Ripper rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gracie moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The Ripper swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Gracie.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The Ripper leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

The Ripper uses his free foot to push down on Gracie's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gracie.

Gracie bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

The Ripper is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Gracie frees his head nicely. Oh but The Ripper has switched to an armbar! Gracie is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
