Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephen Staunton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Warden! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staunton throws a sloppy head kick and Warden moves out of range easily. Staunton misses with a low kick. Stephen Staunton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Staunton throws a head kick that misses. Warden takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Staunton throws a head kick that misses. Staunton tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Staunton throws a half hearted mid kick. Staunton pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A good leg kick by Staunton. Crunch! Staunton slams his shin into Warden's torso. Warden blocks a head kick by Staunton.
Staunton throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Warden swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Warden avoids the head kick by Staunton.
Warden decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Warden tries to pass the half guard into mount. Staunton knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Warden is looking to take a break and control but Staunton is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Staunton is trying to get back to full guard. Warden is pressing down on Staunton's thigh, looking to free his foot. Staunton is holding on for now. Staunton works his way to full guard. Good work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staunton looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Warden must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Warden tries to free his leg and advance position but Staunton is retaining full guard. Staunton keeping moving, preventing Warden from controlling successfully. Warden looking to pass the guard. Staunton looking for a guillotine here but Warden defends easily.
Warden passes Staunton's left leg - he's now in half guard. Staunton is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Warden's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Warden's back! Staunton working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Staunton working for a choke but Warden is defending well.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Staunton has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Warden has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Staunton is breathing heavily. Staunton looking for the choke from the back. Warden defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Staunton's arms. Warden is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Staunton gets his way!
This has been an exciting period of action! Warden trying to control the action but Staunton just sinks the hooks in.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Staunton is hanging on to Warden's back as he tries to escape.
Warden fending off the submission attempt from Staunton. Staunton doesn't have the hooks in and Warden manages to turn into his guard.
Staunton is looking for a triangle but Warden pushes his legs off easily.
Warden stays in close to Staunton's body and controls the position. Let's hope that Warden has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Staunton lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Warden! Staunton is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Warden is surviving well by controlling Staunton's body position as best he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Staunton goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Warden is on top in guard.
Staunton wants to sweep but no luck. Staunton looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Staunton had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Warden is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Staunton Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Warden's back instead. Warden tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Staunton looking for a guillotine from mount but Warden is having none of it. Warden is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Stephen Staunton dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Staunton dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Warden. That did some damage! Staunton is looking to land body kicks. A chopping leg kick lands by Staunton. A nice inside leg kick there by Staunton. That's going to slow Warden down. A head kick misses from Staunton. Staunton tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Staunton throws a head kick that misses. Staunton finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Warden shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Warden working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Warden wants to pass to mount but Staunton is defending the position. Staunton is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Warden pulls his head out easily. Staunton slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Staunton keeping moving, preventing Warden from controlling successfully. Staunton is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Staunton has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Warden should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Staunton has tightened it up now! Warden should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
