PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between The Repo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerard Musashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Repo comes into the arena with Mr Vegas Heads High blaring out of the sound system. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, The Repo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gerard Musashi!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Saam Ante and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Repo moves into the clinch.
Musashi is trying to push Repo away but Repo has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Musashi takes a knee right on the jaw!
Repo gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Musashi wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Repo ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Repo no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Repo looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Musashi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Repo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Musashi passes Repo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Musashi in particular looking to stall.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Let's hope that Musashi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Repo looking for submissions off his back.
Repo is trying to maintain the position but Musashi is very close to passing his half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Musashi in particular looking to stall.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Gerard Musashi hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
The fight stays on the outside here - Repo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Repo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Musashi paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Musashi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Repo is trying to improve his position.
Musashi takes a little break here. Repo wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Repo can't do much from the bottom here.
Musashi is staying tight to Repo's torso, preventing him from escaping.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gerard Musashi.
Repo tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Musashi counters with a left to the body.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Repo tries to clinch but Musashi is having none of it.
Musashi wants to clinch.
Repo tries to close the distance and clinch but Musashi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Repo manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Musashi on his heels. He'll look to pass Musashi's guard now, I'm sure.
Repo trying to control but Musashi is working from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Repo drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Musashi manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Repo has Musashi in his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Gerard Musashi will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Repo wants to clinch.
The Repo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Repo drives through and clinches with Musashi against the cage.
Musashi can't break the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Repo is fighting off a takedown attempt but Musashi is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Repo to the mat. Repo regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Repo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Musashi controls the pace.

Repo is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Musashi is aware though and is defending well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Musashi is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Repo pushes a forearm under Musashi's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Musashi is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). The Repo!
The Repo took to the microphone after his victory and thanked his sponsors, Tab out for their support in the buildup to the fight.
