PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Hilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gabriel Andrews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hilton comes into the arena with We Be Steady Mobbin blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Danny Hilton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gabriel Andrews!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hilton shoots in and gets a takedown into Andrews's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Andrews trying to keep a closed guard but Hilton is proving a slippery customer.
Andrews wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Andrews wants to stand and escape but Hilton is having none of it.

Hilton drops back, looking for a kneebar! Andrews looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Andrews looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Andrews!

Andrews tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Andrews tries to stand but Hilton is controlling his head.

Andrews decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hilton to his feet.
Andrews avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Hilton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Andrews quickly recovers to half guard.
Hilton is looking to advance position but Andrews won't allow it.
Hilton is controlling the pace.
Andrews tries to roll over but Hilton keeps him under control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hilton not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Hilton is looking to advance position but Andrews won't allow it.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Hilton is working for a submission of some sort.
Hilton wants to free his trapped foot but Andrews is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Hilton wants to advance to full mount but Andrews doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Andrews looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Hilton drops back looking for a leg! Andrews is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Andrews manages to kick Hilton off! Hilton jumps back into Andrews's guard.

Andrews striking off his back but it's not causing Hilton any problems.
Hilton wants to control from the top but Andrews keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hilton wants to stand but Andrews has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Andrews had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hilton defends it easily.
Hilton has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hilton lands a couple of digs.
Hilton won't allow Andrews to sweep him here.
Andrews not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Hilton works over Andrews with some ground and pound from guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Andrews keeping moving, preventing Hilton from controlling successfully.
Andrews is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Danny Hilton dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Andrews scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hilton is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Andrews off and has taken his back!
Hilton scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.

Hilton looking to break Andrews's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Andrews remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hilton will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Hilton working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Andrews is doing well to defend. Hilton seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Andrews is forced to tap and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Danny Hilton!
Danny Hilton bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
