Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vivian Peters! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gary Potgieter! The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Peters clinches up against the cage. Peters is trying to trip Potgieter. He has hold of a leg but Potgieter is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Peters persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Potgieter looking for a sweep. Not yet Potgieter, not yet. Peters wants to control from the top but Potgieter keeps moving. Potgieter wants to sweep here but Peters controlling him for the moment. Peters stops Potgieter from standing up. Potgieter working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Peters. Potgieter being controlled here, momentarily. Potgieter controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Vivian Peters wasn't doing enough on the ground. Potgieter tries to clinch up but Peters circles away and keeps his distance. Potgieter moves into the clinch. Potgieter is trying to push Peters away but Peters has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Potgieter is trying to maintain a safe position but Peters gets an underhook and turns Potgieter into the cage. Peters can't break the clinch.
Potgieter gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Peters regains guard.
Peters lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Potgieter! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Peters lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Peters dominating with strikes here. Potgieter tries to hold on but Peters postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peters with shots to the head and body - Potgieter looks very uncomfortable down there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Peters wants to control the pace but Potgieter is squirming around nicely. Peters breaks from Potgieter's wrist control and lands an elbow. Peters is landing with some decent strikes but Potgieter is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Peters lands a nice shot to the head.
Potgieter is rocked! Peters cracks Potgieter with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vivian Peters!
