PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Jagatic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jorge Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mario Jagatic!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jorge Sanchez!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jagatic dives in and scores a takedown into Sanchez's guard.
Jagatic looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Sanchez keeping full guard, as Jagatic tries to pass.
Sanchez is trying to control the position but Jagatic postures up.

Jagatic knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sanchez on the ground.

Jorge Sanchez has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jagatic did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control.
Sanchez trying to control the action but Jagatic is working from the bottom.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sanchez connects with a nice short shot to Jagatic's temple.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sanchez not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Sanchez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Sanchez is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jagatic doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sanchez.
Jagatic is not content to let Sanchez control the position.
Sanchez is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Sanchez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jagatic does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jorge Sanchez.

Sanchez closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Jagatic did well to prevent Sanchez getting side control.
Sanchez is pressing down on Jagatic's thigh, looking to free his foot. Jagatic is holding on for now.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Sanchez seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Sanchez throws a head kick that misses.
Sanchez attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

Sanchez shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Sanchez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jagatic is staying active underneath Sanchez, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Sanchez sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jagatic defending well though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sanchez is keen to just control but Jagatic is a slippery customer.
Sanchez takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jorge Sanchez dominated that round.

Sanchez closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Jagatic tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Sanchez just stands there and leans against the cage.

Jagatic breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Sanchez forces Jagatic back against the cage and clinches.
Jagatic is trying to break free.
A frustrated look appears on Jagatic's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Sanchez trying to land knees to the body.
Sanchez wants to get back to striking at distance but Jagatic won't allow it.

Sanchez pulls Jagatic into guard.
Sanchez wants to stand up but Jagatic is controlling him.
Sanchez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jagatic's guard.
Sanchez passes Jagatic's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sanchez trying to mount his opponent but Jagatic defends it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sanchez has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Jagatic defend it? Sanchez steps over the head and cranks it - Jagatic is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Sanchez!
