PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Frank Damozzi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlo Boozer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Damozzi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, We will rock you. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Damozzi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Carlo Boozer!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Damozzi cracks Boozer with an open hand slap.
Boozer fails with the takedown.
Frank Damozzi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boozer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Damozzi.


It looks like Carlo Boozer has been cut.

Damozzi tries to sprawl but Boozer drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Boozer is looking to take a break and control but Damozzi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Damozzi pushes Boozer off looking to stand but Boozer dives back in and keeps control.

Boozer decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boozer.
Boozer shoots in and drives through. Damozzi sprawls well.
Frank Damozzi has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlo Boozer.
Damozzi lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Damozzi, right into the meat.
An inside leg kick lands from Damozzi.

Boozer shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Damozzi is looking for a sweep. Boozer is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Damozzi wants to control but Boozer is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Damozzi has one foot on Boozer's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Damozzi clobbers Boozer with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Damozzi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Boozer throws a chopping leg kick but Damozzi manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Boozer takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Damozzi throws a series of punches but Boozer avoids them all with ease.
Damozzi connects with a right hand. Boozer shakes it off.
Jab, jab by Damozzi - just one landing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Damozzi throws a series of strikes that have Boozer backpedaling.
Damozzi looks to throw the jab but Boozer is out of range.

Boozer feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Damozzi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Boozer on the ground.
Damozzi is breathing heavily.

Boozer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Damozzi, up you get!
Damozzi connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Boozer closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Damozzi's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boozer tries to free his leg and advance position but Damozzi is retaining full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Boozer wants to control from the top but Damozzi keeps moving.

Boozer wants to stand but Damozzi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Damozzi's corner calls for a 1-2. Damozzi obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Boozer shoots in for a takedown but Damozzi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Damozzi scores with a sloppy right hand. Boozer should have avoided that one.
Damozzi misses with a few strikes there.
Boozer throws a body punch but Damozzi moves out of range.
Boozer shoots in for a takedown but Damozzi shows good takedown defense.
Damozzi avoids the head kick by Boozer.

Boozer shoots in and gets a takedown into Damozzi's guard.
Damozzi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Damozzi tries to get out of the position.
Damozzi keeping moving, preventing Boozer from controlling successfully.
Boozer is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Boozer won't allow Damozzi to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Boozer gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Boozer is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Damozzi's half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Boozer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Damozzi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Boozer moves into full mount! Damozzi won't be happy about that!
Boozer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Boozer trying to control but Damozzi is having none of it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Carlo Boozer will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Carlo Boozer's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A combination from Damozzi does no damage.
Damozzi cracks Boozer with a right hand to the side of the head.
Damozzi connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Boozer shoots in but Damozzi avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Boozer slips a jab from Damozzi.
Boozer has his takedown stuffed

and Damozzi counters with a single leg into guard. Boozer didn't expect that.
Carlo Boozer has got the better of the ground game so far.

Damozzi is posturing up here but Boozer has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Damozzi tries to roll out but it's too tight and Damozzi has to tap! Slick submission there by Boozer!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Carlo Boozer!
