PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Eye (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Connor Freeman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eye's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, EYE OF THE TIGER. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Lenny Eye!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Connor Freeman!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eye takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Freeman shoots for a double leg takedown but Eye sprawls well. He's pushed Freeman's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Eye throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Freeman stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Freeman misses with a series of wild punches.
A good leg kick by Eye.

Freeman feints and as Eye raises his hands in defense, Freeman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Freeman postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Freeman is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
It looks like Freeman might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Freeman wants to control from the top but Eye keeps moving.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Connor Freeman wasn't active enough on the ground.

Freeman feints a jab promting Eye to slip. Freeman then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Eye slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Freeman shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Eye pinned against the cage. Eye gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Freeman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Eye wants to stand up but Freeman is controlling him.
Freeman slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Freeman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Eye swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Eye throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Eye is looking to wear down Freeman with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Freeman manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Eye on his heels. He'll look to pass Eye's guard now, I'm sure.

Eye is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Freeman pulls his head out easily.

Connor Freeman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Freeman has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
