Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Ellis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ellis has chosen Out Of Space by Prodigy as his entrance music. Nick Carter could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Michael Ellis's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nick Carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Michael Ellis! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ellis fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Carter checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Carter shoots in and gets a takedown into Ellis's guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Carter wants to pass the guard but Ellis is keeping the position. Ellis utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Carter looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Carter wants to stand but Ellis is controlling his posture from full guard. Carter trying to control but Ellis is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carter wants to stand but Ellis is controlling his posture from full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Nick Carter. Carter gets a double leg takedown into Ellis's guard. Ellis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Carter is controlling him. Carter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ellis is proving hard to escape from. Ellis looking for a sweep. Not yet Ellis, not yet. Carter slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Carter knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ellis on the ground. Carter wants to get up but he can't break Ellis's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Carter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Ellis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ellis is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Carter stuffs the takedown attempt from Ellis. Ellis gets slowly back to his feet. Carter throws a head kick but Ellis moves out of range.
Carter clinches. Ellis has Carter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Carter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Nick Carter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Ellis. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Carter has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ellis regains guard immediately. Ellis looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Carter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carter wants to control from the top but Ellis keeps moving. Ellis throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Ellis trying to keep a closed guard but Carter is proving a slippery customer.
Ellis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carter defends well. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Carter trying to control the position from guard on top but Ellis is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carter won't allow Ellis to sweep him here. Ellis is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Ellis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter prevents Ellis from getting back to his feet. Ellis is trying to control the position but Carter postures up. Ellis has a closed guard, preventing Carter from standing up. Ellis wants to stand up but Carter is controlling him. Ellis is trying to control the position but Carter postures up. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ellis is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carter is controlling Ellis's trapped leg to prevent Ellis from advancing to side control. Carter wants to control but Ellis is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nick Carter dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Carter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Carter wants it to stay on the feet. Ellis shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Ellis thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Ellis chips away with some ground and pound. Ellis missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Ellis trying to control the position from guard on top but Carter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Carter has control of Ellis's left arm, preventing Ellis from doing any damage. Ellis lands a couple of digs. Ellis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carter is keeping the position for now. Ellis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ellis with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Carter is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. Ellis trying to control but Carter is working from the bottom. Carter pulls Ellis in close to prevent any damage. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Ellis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Ellis has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Ellis preventing the sweep. Ellis loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ellis pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Carter is keeping the position for now. Ellis wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ellis advances to half guard. Ellis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Carter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Carter tries to get out of the position. Ellis seems to be working for a kimura but Carter defends the submission attempt. Carter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ellis is working away from the top position though. This has been an exciting period of action! Ellis is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Carter sees it coming and defends easily. Carter is trying to control but Ellis passes into side control!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Ellis sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Carter is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ellis working the ground and pound from side control. Carter can't do much from the bottom here. Ellis is working to tighten is grip on Carter's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Carter has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ellis is really squeezing tight and eventually Carter passes out! Ellis breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
