Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yan Cabral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Taufik Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Yan Cabral! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Taufik Ali! The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Steve Montenegro and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cabral misses with a takedown letting Ali counter with a right hand. Ali displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Cabral. Ali moves in looking to clinch but Cabral pushes him off. Ali throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Yan Cabral has been cut. Ali should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cabral fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yan Cabral. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ali tries for a takedown but Cabral sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Cabral misses with a takedown attempt - Ali sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Ali is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Cabral shoots in for a takedown but Ali shows good takedown defense. Ali shoots in for a double leg but Cabral sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Ali shoots for a double leg takedown but Cabral sprawls well. He's pushed Ali's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Horrible takedown by Ali or perhaps it was just good defense by Cabral which made him look bad. Ali closes the distance and clinches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ali is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Cabral is keeping busy. Ali's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Cabral throws a jab but it's blocked by Ali. Ali tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Cabral tries for a takedown but Ali circles away easily and Ali counters with a nice low kick that buckles Cabral's knee momentarily. A momentary lapse in concentration from Ali enables Cabral to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ali manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Ali is looking to sweep but instead, Cabral has passed into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Ali is looking for a sweep. Cabral is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. It looks like Cabral is going to stand back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Yan Cabral wasn't doing enough on the ground. Ali tries to clinch but Cabral moves out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cabral moves into the clinch. Ali trying to control the position but instead, Cabral has worked for underhooks and has pushed Ali into the cage. Ali lands a hook that snaps the head of Cabral backwards. Ali has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Cabral avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Ali manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ali lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Cabral circles away from the clinch attempt.
Cabral tries to score a power double leg takedown but Ali sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cabral somewhat. Cabral shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ali counters with a nice body shot. Cabral shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ali moves into full guard.

Taufik Ali dominated that round. The cut man is working on Yan Cabral's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Left hook, right uppercut from Ali. Cabral closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ali tries to improve position but can't. Cabral controlling from side mount. Ali tries to control but Cabral manages to take his back. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Ali is really stuck here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabral has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Ali's body.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Yan Cabral. Ali stuffs the takedown attempt from Cabral. Cabral gets slowly back to his feet. Ali fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Cabral, pushing him back against the cage. Cabral drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Ali is pushing Cabral up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Cabral is pressed up against the cage. Ali has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Cabral down to the mat. Cabral avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Ali tries to clinch there but Cabral circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cabral defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ali. Yan Cabral has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Taufik Ali. Cabral dives in and scores a takedown into Ali's guard. Cabral looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Cabral will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cabral has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ali is proving hard to escape from. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Ali trying to keep a closed guard but Cabral is proving a slippery customer.

Cabral kicks Ali off and gets to his feet. Cabral shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ali as he avoids it easily. Cabral dives in and grabs Ali's left leg, looking for a takedown. Ali pushes down on Cabral's head and hops out. Taufik Ali seems to be getting the better of the standup. Ali throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Cabral's head. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cabral is defended easily by Ali. Ali lands with a nice body kick. Ali misses with a takedown attempt - Cabral sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cabral on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ali shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Cabral is trying to defend but Ali finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Cabral is staying active underneath Ali, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Cabral is defending against the submission attempts here by Ali.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Cabral is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ali tries to free his leg and advance position but Cabral is retaining full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ali won't allow Cabral to sweep him here. Cabral has a closed guard, preventing Ali from standing up. Cabral on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Cabral tries to get out of the position. Cabral has his foot on Ali's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ali works his way back into a safe position though. Cabral has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Ali can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ali wants to stand but Cabral has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
