Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Masakatsu Funaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Olivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masakatsu Funaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Arnold Olivera!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Olivera shoots in looking for a takedown but Funaki manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Olivera's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Funaki fails to land with a series of punches.
Olivera has his takedown stuffed
and Funaki counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Funaki cracks Olivera with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Funaki closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Olivera has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Funaki finds it's way round the side to connect with Olivera's head.

and Funaki counters with a right hand to the body.
Masakatsu Funaki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arnold Olivera.
Funaki throws the left hand but Olivera avoids the punch easily.
Funaki ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Olivera moves away.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Olivera should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Olivera has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Olivera there as he acknowledges the shot.

Funaki fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Funaki counters with a series of strikes. Olivera will be more careful next time no doubt.

Olivera is trying desperately to land a takedown but Funaki is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Olivera.

Funaki slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Olivera avoids a punch combination nicely.
Olivera moves forwards but Funaki connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Funaki is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

letting Funaki counter with a right hand.

Funaki connects with a good right hand that stumbles Olivera. Olivera circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Funaki will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Funaki is working the combinations to good effect here.
Olivera shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Funaki manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Olivera got a little sloppy there for a moment and Funaki has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Olivera has managed to get both his arms back between Funaki's legs - danger averted.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Funaki has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Olivera can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Olivera sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Funaki's guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Funaki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Olivera gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Funaki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Olivera is aware though and is defending well.
Funaki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Olivera stands and throws Funaki's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Olivera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Funaki, who protects the arm well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Funaki manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
