Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sap swats away the attempt to clinch by Mallinson.
Mallinson doesn't manage to clinch there - Sap circles away.
Mallinson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Sap darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Sap is thwarting Mallinson's attempts to control the position.
Sap landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Mallinson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Sap is working away from the top position though.
Mallinson tries to roll over but Sap keeps him under control.

Sap seems to be working for a kimura but Mallinson defends the submission attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sap trying to pass the guard but Mallinson defending well.
Mallinson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mallinson.
Sap wants to pass the guard but Mallinson is keeping the position.
Sap wants to get up but he can't break Mallinson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mallinson seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sap postures up.
Sap will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Alex Mallinson has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Mallinson gets the takedown into side control.
Sap is looking for a sweep.
Sap wants to get back to his feet but Mallinson drags him back down.
Sap is looking to regain half guard here but Mallinson keeps moving and retains side control.
Sap knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mallinson on the ground.
Mallinson wants to control but Sap is keeping him busy.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Mallinson has hold of Sap's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Sap tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Mallinson cranks the arm and Sap screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Sap, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
