Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Darko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Erik Gordon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Erik Gordon enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marcus Darko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Erik Gordon!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Darko misses with a takedown attempt
and Gordon finishes the little exchange by landing a big kick to the body.
Darko misses with the combination.

Gordon rushes Darko and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Darko has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Gordon after a bit of a struggle.
Gordon is defending well against a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Darko. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Darko tries to pull guard but Gordon won't allow it.

Gordon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Darko throws a right hand that Gordon ducks under and follows up with a left that Gordon also avoids with ease.

and Gordon counters with a slapping leg kick.
Darko is breathing heavily.

Gordon misses with a two punch combination.

Gordon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Darko, pushing him back against the cage.
Gordon tries to throw a body punch but Darko avoids it by throwing Gordon back against the cage.
Darko is trying to break the clinch but Gordon has him pressed against the cage.

Gordon drags the fight down to the ground.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Gordon wants to stand but Darko is controlling the position.
Darko stands up over Gordon, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Darko pushes down on Gordon's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gordon is looking to improve his position.
Gordon is not content to let Darko control the position.

Gordon is defending against the submission attempts here by Darko.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Gordon can do anything to dispel that myth.
Gordon wants to control but Darko is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Darko is trying to control the action in half guard but Gordon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Gordon wants to get back to his feet.
Darko scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Gordon is trying to control but Darko passes into side control!

Darko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gordon, who protects the arm well.
Darko moves into full mount!

BOOM! Darko connects with a massive shot to the dome!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Darko breaks from Gordon's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Darko is stalling here but it's allowed Gordon to get half guard.
Darko is trying to control the action in half guard but Gordon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Darko misses with a takedown attempt - Gordon sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Gordon makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Darko really felt that one!

and Gordon counters with a good low kick that Darko was not able to check.

Gordon moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Darko shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gordon counters with a slapping leg kick.
Marcus Darko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Gordon has taken the fight to the clinch.

Gordon breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gordon takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Darko doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Gordon counters with a good low kick that Darko was not able to check.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Darko swinging wildly here.

Gordon clinches up against the cage.

Gordon is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Darko can't fight it off and eventually Gordon manages to take the fight to the floor. Darko looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gordon really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Darko. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gordon is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Darko is trying to control the position but Gordon postures up.
Marcus Darko overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Darko tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Darko pushes a forearm under Gordon's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Gordon is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
