Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dante Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joakim Goransson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paul throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Goransson tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Paul is in Goransson's guard. Goransson keeping full guard, as Paul tries to pass. Goransson throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Paul trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Paul with a nice head shot there. Paul working some strikes from top position. Paul stays in close to Goransson's body and controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paul pushing down on Goransson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Goransson actively working from the bottom here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul is taking a breather. Goransson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Goransson wants to improve his position but Paul is controlling well.

Paul controlling the action here. Goransson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Paul. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We're going to have a standup here because Dante Paul wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Goransson tries for a takedown but Paul circles away easily and Paul moves into the clinch. Paul jumps into guard, dragging Goransson to the mat.
Goransson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Paul looking to hit a scissor sweep but Goransson is one step ahead there. Paul keeping moving, preventing Goransson from controlling successfully. Paul will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Goransson wants to stand and escape but instead Paul has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Paul decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Goransson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Paul as he avoids it easily. Paul shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Paul was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Paul is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Paul has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Paul seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Goransson for as long as he can get away with.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Dante Paul just wasn't active enough. Goransson tries to clinch up but Paul circles away and keeps his distance. Goransson tries to score a power double leg takedown but Paul sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Goransson somewhat. Dante Paul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joakim Goransson. Paul is trying hard to land a takedown here. Goransson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Goransson tries to keep at a distance but Paul has taken the fight into the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dante Paul dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Goransson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Paul counters with a head kick that drops Goransson to the mat! Goransson scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Goransson is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paul clinches. Paul is working Goransson over against the cage. Paul gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Paul scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Paul works his way into side control. Paul thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Goransson trying to remain calm as Paul controls from the top position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paul has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Goransson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Paul seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Dante Paul wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Paul gets the takedown into side control. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Check out the look on Paul's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Paul controls the position. Goransson is looking for a sweep. Paul decides to stand back up. Paul steps back and let's Goransson get back to his feet. Paul clinches with his opponent.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Paul escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Goransson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Jab by Paul. Goransson shoots and misses and Paul counters with a takedown into side control. Goransson is breathing heavily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Paul in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Goransson is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
