Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, David Merchant! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Billy Chun! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Merchant looks for the body kick but Chun saw that one coming. Merchant tries to clinch but Chun moves out of range. Merchant shoots for a double leg takedown but Chun sprawls well. He's pushed Merchant's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Chun misses with a straight left. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Merchant is defended easily by Chun. A jab from Chun finds it's way through Merchant's defenses. The crowd cheers as Chun lands an impressive looking overhand right. Merchant doesn't seem phased though. Merchant throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Merchant throws a right hand that Chun ducks under and follows up with a left that Chun also avoids with ease. A combination from Chun does no damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Chun as Merchant shoots in. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Merchant. That's going to take a lot out of him. Merchant shoots in looking for a takedown. Chun tries to sprawl out of it but Merchant keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Chun manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Merchant looks for a takedown but Chun sprawls well. Merchant on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Merchant throws a right hand that Chun ducks under and follows up with a left that Chun also avoids with ease. Merchant looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Nice takedown defense from Chun. No joy for Merchant on that attempt. A nice combination there by Chun.
Chun shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Merchant eats them both and turns towards Chun to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Merchant throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Chun's waist but Chun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Merchant off to one side. Merchant darts in trying to clinch and Chun counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Merchant tries to clinch and Chun counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Merchant tries to close the distance and clinch up but Chun swats him away and circles back towards the center. Chun scores with a hook. Merchant doesn't manage to clinch there - Chun circles away.

Merchant postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Merchant is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Merchant won't allow Chun to get back to his feet. Merchant has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Merchant's corner is telling him to maintain position. Merchant gets to his feet - Chun follows without any prompting. Merchant shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Merchant swings away with a body shot that misses
and Chun counters with a nice uppercut.

That's going to take a lot out of him. Merchant looks to clinch and Chun counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Chun might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. No luck with that takedown attempt from Merchant. Chun scores with a hook. Merchant fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Chun avoids it really well and circles away.

That was a close second round but I would say that David Merchant will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Merchant closes the distance but Chun moves to the side and Chun counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Merchant looks for a takedown but Chun sprawls well. Merchant tries for a takedown but Chun circles away easily and Chun counters with a left and a right that stings Merchant.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Billy Chun. I think Chun has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
