Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Gleison Maldonado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Trygve Bondevik!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bondevik wants to clinch up but Maldonado keeps it at a distance.
Bondevik has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Maldonado lands with a cross.

Bondevik drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Bondevik drops back looking for a leg! Maldonado is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Maldonado manages to kick Bondevik off! Bondevik jumps back into Maldonado's guard.
Maldonado pulls Bondevik in close to prevent any damage.
Bondevik wants to control from the top but Maldonado keeps moving.
Maldonado is trying to control the position but Bondevik postures up.
Maldonado might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Bondevik pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maldonado is keeping the position for now.
Bondevik forces his way into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bondevik seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Maldonado does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Maldonado tries to roll over but Bondevik keeps him under control.
Bondevik slows the pace down in half guard.

Bondevik is trying to work for a kimura but Maldonado is defending well.
Maldonado trying to control but Bondevik postures up.
Maldonado knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bondevik on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bondevik moves into full mount! Maldonado won't be happy about that!
Maldonado wants to hold on but Bondevik pushes him away.
Maldonado tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Maldonado tries to hold on but Bondevik postures up.
Maldonado is squirming around, avoiding Bondevik's attempts to control the action.

Bondevik looking for a guillotine from mount but Maldonado is having none of it.

Bondevik is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Maldonado is surviving well by controlling Bondevik's body position as best he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bondevik avoids the attempt from Maldonado to control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bondevik is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Maldonado has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Maldonado is looking to get to half guard.
Bondevik sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bondevik with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Maldonado wants to hold on but Bondevik pushes him away.
Maldonado on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Maldonado tries to get out of the position.
Bondevik trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Bondevik looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bondevik takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trygve Bondevik dominated that round.

A lazy left from Maldonado finds it's target.
Bondevik takes one to the side of the head.
Bondevik shoots in looking for a takedown but Maldonado manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Bondevik's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Maldonado connects with a crisp jab.

Maldonado drops Bondevik with a beautiful combination! Bondevik stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Maldonado is looking for the KO!


Bondevik is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Bondevik is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Maldonado just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Bondevik has gone limp and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Gleison Maldonado!
An out of breath Gleison Maldonado thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
