Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Pearson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddy Hoop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pearson comes to the cage accompanied by tom petty - i won't back down. Wayne Pearson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Wayne Pearson! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Eddy Hoop! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pearson swings widly with a right hand
and Hoop counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Hoop pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pearson keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Pearson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Pearson swats away the attempt to clinch by Hoop. Hoop tries to clinch but Pearson is having none of it. Pearson tests Hoop's chin there with a solid looking shot. Hoop catches Pearson with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
It looks like Wayne Pearson has been cut. Pearson scores with a hook. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pearson circles away from the clinch attempt and Pearson counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Pearson lands a jab to Hoop's midsection. Hoop tries to clinch but Pearson moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoop uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pearson. Pearson misses with a straight left. Pearson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Hoop connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hoop ducks under a wild hook from Pearson. Pearson drops his hands momentarily and Hoop takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Pearson's corner calls for a 1-2. Pearson obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
It looks like Eddy Hoop has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hoop dodges the punch combination from Pearson.
A slow jab from Pearson misses its intended target. Some wild striking there from Pearson.
Pearson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Hoop. Hoop misses the jab. Sloppy strikes from Pearson. Those never looked like landing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pearson throws the left hand but Hoop avoids the punch easily. Pearson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Hoop uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pearson.
Hoop connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Pearson pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A head kick misses from Hoop. Hoop cracks Pearson with a good jab. A jab from Pearson misses. Hoop with a hook. Hoop slips a jab from Pearson. Hoop moves in looking to clinch but Pearson pushes him off. Hoop tries to clinch but Pearson is having none of it. Pearson lands a right hook to the body.
Hoop connects with a jab.
Wayne Pearson's cut is getting worse. Hoop with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hoop on the wrong end of a nice jab. Pearson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Pearson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hoop to score with a decent uppercut. Pearson throws a hook but Hoop avoids it easily. Hoop uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pearson. Pearson throws a shot from downtown. Hoop moves away and avoids it. Pearson thows a body shot but no joy. A cross from Hoop lands. Hoop is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Pearson had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pearson misses with a straight left. Hoop drops Pearson with a nice combination! Hoop dives into Pearson's guard, looking to finish!
Pearson is rocked!
Wayne Pearson's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hoop is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Oh Pearson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Hoop trying to control the position from guard on top but Pearson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pearson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Pearson seems to have got his legs back now. Hoop trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hoop looking to pass the guard. Hoop postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Hoop trying to control but Pearson is working from the bottom. Pearson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Hoop throwing strikes from guard but Pearson blocks nicely. Hoop has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Hoop looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Eddy Hoop dominated that round. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Hoop looks to land a left hand but Pearson moved out of range nicely. Hoop takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Hoop closes the distance and pushes Pearson back into the cage. Pearson misses with a punch on the inside.
Hoop is working Pearson over against the cage. Hoop throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pearsons head. Hoop wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Pearson blocks an uppercut.
Hoop tries to work over Pearson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Hoop presses Pearson against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hoop works on Pearson's body with a couple of short punches. A hook to the body from Hoop.
Hoop escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Hoop fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pearson, pushing him back against the cage. Hoop breaks from the clinch.
Pearson misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hoop tries to clinch but Pearson moves out of range. Hoop throws a head kick but Pearson moves out of range.
Pearson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hoop counters with a straight right hand. We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Hoop in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. Pearson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hoop slips under a jab from Pearson. Pearson staying out of range there. Pearson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hoop moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hoop lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Pearson throws a series of punches but Hoop avoids them all with ease. Hoop tries to clinch up. Hoop ducks under a wild hook from Pearson. Hoop bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pearson's head backwards.
Jeez, Wayne Pearson's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hoop rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pearson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Hoop throws a push kick but Pearson slaps the foot to one side. Hoop throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hoop instigates a clinch. Hoop manages to break the clinch.
Hoop pushes Pearson up against the cage in a clinch. Hoop breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
