Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sto Ian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shogun Rua has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sto Ian! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shogun Rua! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ian gets the takedown into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rua looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Rua is trying to control Ian's posture but Ian avoids it. Ian lands an elbow. Rua can't do much from the bottom here. Rua seems a little lost for a moment, as Ian dominates the positioning. Ian's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ian stands up and we're back to a striking position. Ian fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rua sprawls well initially but Ian persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Ian landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Ian sitting and controlling from the half guard. Ian trying to control from Rua's half guard. Rua has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Ian decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. An inside leg kick from Ian misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rua moves into the clinch. Ian breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Ian decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Ian in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Rua tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Ian!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sto Ian!
