Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 18 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Jaa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
21 - 35 - 2, fighting out of St Petersburg, Veli Schwarzeneg! The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Igor Prikhodko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Schwarzeneg fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Schwarzeneg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jaa moves in looking to clinch but Schwarzeneg pushes him off. Veli Schwarzeneg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schwarzeneg clinches with his opponent.
Schwarzeneg is looking for a takedown. Jaa tries for a takedown but Schwarzeneg manages to get underhooks.
Schwarzeneg turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jaa is looking to reverse the position. Schwarzeneg tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Jaa tries to bench press Schwarzeneg off him but Schwarzeneg keeps the position. Jaa is working to avoid the ground and pound but Schwarzeneg connects with a decent elbow. Jaa takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Schwarzeneg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jaa keeps working. Schwarzeneg wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jaa, who protects the arm well. Schwarzeneg decides to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jaa fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Schwarzeneg displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Jaa. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Jaa. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck with that takedown attempt from Schwarzeneg. Jaa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schwarzeneg's waist but Schwarzeneg gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jaa off to one side. Jaa is breathing heavily. Schwarzeneg fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jaa avoids it really well and circles away. Schwarzeneg takes one on the button. Jaa shoots in looking for a takedown. Schwarzeneg tries to sprawl out of it but Jaa keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the ropes. Schwarzeneg manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jaa but Jaa pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jaa fails with the takedown. Schwarzeneg misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Schwarzeneg fails in his attempt to clinch. Schwarzeneg shoots in but no luck this time. Schwarzeneg gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jaa is trying to pull guard but Schwarzeneg has him pressed against the ropes. Jaa tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Jaa crunches a lovely knee into Schwarzeneg's ribcage. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Jaa looking for a takedown. Schwarzeneg ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Schwarzeneg no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwarzeneg throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Schwarzeneg looking to control.
Schwarzeneg wants to get back to his feet but Jaa is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Schwarzeneg working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Jaa. Jaa has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Schwarzeneg keeping moving, preventing Jaa from controlling successfully. Schwarzeneg has an active guard here but Jaa has managed to pass into half guard.
Schwarzeneg wants to get back to his feet. Schwarzeneg misses with some strikes from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jaa is thwarting Schwarzeneg's attempts to control the position. Schwarzeneg wants to stand back up but Jaa manages to pass into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schwarzeneg pushes Jaa away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Jaa gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Veli Schwarzeneg dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Schwarzeneg wants to clinch up but Jaa keeps it at a distance. Schwarzeneg fails with the takedown. Schwarzeneg shoots in looking for a takedown but Jaa manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Schwarzeneg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Schwarzeneg throws a lazy body kick and Jaa counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Schwarzeneg looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jaa is fending him off so far but Schwarzeneg persists. Nope, Jaa circles away and we're back to standing. Tony Jaa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Veli Schwarzeneg. Jaa shoots for a takedown but Schwarzeneg saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Jaa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Schwarzeneg swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jaa shoots in but no luck this time. Schwarzeneg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Schwarzeneg will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Jaa is defended easily by Schwarzeneg. Jaa throws a head kick that Schwarzeneg semi-blocks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Schwarzeneg tries to score a power double leg takedown but Jaa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Schwarzeneg somewhat. Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Schwarzeneg shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Jaa defends it nicely. Schwarzeneg fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Jaa wants to clinch up but Schwarzeneg keeps it at a distance.

It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jaa wants it to stay on the feet. Schwarzeneg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jaa is trying to get back to half guard. Jaa manages to work his way to half guard, despite Schwarzeneg's best efforts. Jaa has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Schwarzeneg is working away from the top position though. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Tony Jaa is winning the standup battle so far. Schwarzeneg drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schwarzeneg is chipping away with strikes.
Veli Schwarzeneg has got the better of the ground game so far. Jaa seems a little lost for a moment, as Schwarzeneg dominates the positioning. Jaa is trying to improve his position. Schwarzeneg throws an elbow but Jaa slips to the side and avoids it well.

Veli Schwarzeneg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Jaa gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Schwarzeneg keeping full guard, as Jaa tries to pass. Jaa stays in close to Schwarzeneg's body and controls the position. Jaa stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Schwarzeneg swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Schwarzeneg moves into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schwarzeneg tries to pull guard but Jaa forces him back to his feet, against the ropes. Schwarzeneg breaks the clinch.
Schwarzeneg defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jaa. Nice takedown defense from Jaa. No joy for Schwarzeneg on that attempt. Schwarzeneg shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jaa as he jumps to the side. Schwarzeneg circles away from the clinch attempt.
Schwarzeneg fails with the takedown. Horrible takedown by Jaa or perhaps it was just good defense by Schwarzeneg which made him look bad. Jaa dives in and grabs Schwarzeneg's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schwarzeneg pushes down on Jaa's head and hops out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jaa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Schwarzeneg has Jaa up against the ropes in a clinch.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Schwarzeneg can't keep his opponent in guard - Jaa advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Veli Schwarzeneg. I've got Schwarzeneg winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
