Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
17 - 11 - 0, fighting out of New York, Randolph Turpin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Hart! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Turpin takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Hart misses with a low kick. Hart closes this distance looking for a takedown but Turpin circles away. Hart throws a body kick that misses. Hart scores with a push kick. Hart slips a straight right by Turpin. Turpin lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Hart misses with a kick to the body and Turpin counters with a two punch combo. Turpin lands a nice leg kick that just misses Hart's sensitive parts. Turpin throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Turpin misses with an uppercut. Hart saw that one coming. Hart gets a takedown into half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Hart looks to land a strike but Turpin avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Turpin wants to sweep here but Hart controlling him for the moment. Hart scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Hart looking to pass the guard. Hart working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Turpin trying to control the position here. Turpin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Turpin is pulling down on Hart's head to control his posture.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hart throwing strikes from guard but Turpin blocks nicely. Turpin is trying to keep Hart in close.
Hart postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Hart sitting in guard here, content to control. Hart lands a couple of elbows. Turpin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Hart postures up in Turpin's guard and throws a big left but Turpin blocks it. Hart trying to control the position from guard on top but Turpin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Turpin has his hands on Hart's head, controlling the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hart missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hart with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hart is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Turpin is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Turpin has escaped and now he's on top! Hart is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Hart looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hart is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Turpin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hart on the ground. Hart is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Turpin is aware though and is defending well. Hart keeping full guard, as Turpin tries to pass. Hart looking for a sweep. Not yet Hart, not yet. Hart has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Turpin should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Hart has tightened it up now! Turpin should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
