The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Jonathan Paton and Chad Campbell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jutila lands with a thumping leg kick.
Ballardo's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Jutila connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Ballardo scrambles back to his feet.
Jutila throws a right hand that Ballardo ducks under and follows up with a left that Ballardo also avoids with ease.
Jutila tries to land a front kick but Ballardo steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Ballardo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Ballardo will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Jutila throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Vassago Ballardo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jutila swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Jutila tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Ballardo was well out of range. Poor timing from Jutila.

Ballardo feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Jutila's calf.

Jutila shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ballardo pinned against the cage. Ballardo gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Ballardo throws a lazy head kick
and Jutila counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Ballardo!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Ballardo is looking for a sweep.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Jutila is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ballardo is just riding it out for now. Jutila eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ballardo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jutila is working away from the top position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ballardo wants to control but Jutila is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Jutila is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ballardo doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jutila.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Timo Jutila will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Ballardo tries to close the distance and clinch but Jutila swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Ballardo lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Jutila has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Jutila and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
A looping hook to the body misses from Jutila. Ballardo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Jutila fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Ballardo looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ballardo takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Jutila closes the distance and pushes Ballardo back into the cage.
Jutila pushes Ballardo back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Jutila lands with a short shot to the head.
Ballardo misses with some punches.
Ballardo tries to stall but Jutila uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Jutila lands a nice elbow.
It looks like Vassago Ballardo has been cut.
Ballardo avoids a wild elbow strike from Jutila.
Jutila lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
Still in the clinch, Jutila scores with a nice short uppercut.
Ballardo is trying to maintain a safe position but Jutila gets an underhook and turns Ballardo into the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jutila pulls back and lands a big elbow that stuns Ballardo! Jutila unloads with more strikes and Ballardo sinks to his knees! This one is all over!
