Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Logan Briggs! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Skip Torres! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Elvis Blanc and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Torres blocks a head kick by Briggs.
Briggs is looking to clinch but Torres is avoiding it.
Briggs looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Torres! The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Torres regains half guard. Torres is not content to let Briggs control the position. Torres tries to get to full guard but Briggs has control of the leg. Briggs tries to pass to full mount but Torres defends it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Torres is trying to get back to full guard. Torres looking for submissions off his back. Briggs content to control rather than advance.
That's one minute gone in the round. Torres is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Briggs with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Briggs tries to stand but his arm is trapped. Torres regains full guard. Nicely done. Briggs connects with a couple of short punches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Briggs advances to half guard. Torres is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Briggs jumps into side control! Briggs is trying to get an arm triangle but Torres is defending well. Torres can't do much from the bottom here. Torres is not content to let Briggs control the position. Torres tries to bench press Briggs off him but Briggs keeps the position. Briggs tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Briggs is looking to take a break and control but Torres is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Torres is trying to get back to half guard. Briggs working away. Torres is looking to regain half guard here but Briggs keeps moving and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Torres can't do much from the bottom here. Briggs slows the pace down.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Briggs misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Torres manages to work his way to half guard, despite Briggs's best efforts. Torres tries to roll over but Briggs keeps him under control. Briggs is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Torres has managed to free his arm - good work. Torres trying to hold on to Briggs's head to control him but Briggs postures up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Briggs is looking to take a break and control but Torres is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Logan Briggs dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Torres uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Briggs.
No joy there for Torres, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Torres scores with a takedown into Briggs's guard. Torres stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Briggs swivels though and keeps the full guard. Briggs controlling Torres's posture. Torres wants to control from the top but Briggs keeps moving. Briggs controls Torres momentarily but Torres frees himself. Torres looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Briggs trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Torres is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Torres drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Torres pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Briggs is keeping the position for now. Briggs pulls Torres in close to his closed guard and prevents Torres from doing any damage or advancing position. Torres prevents Briggs from getting back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Torres wants to control from the top but Briggs keeps moving. Torres tries to free his leg and advance position but Briggs is retaining full guard.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Skip Torres wasn't active enough on the ground. Briggs fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Logan Briggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Torres misses with a leg kick and Briggs counters by moving into the clinch. A short body shot lands from Briggs as the two fighters clinch.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Briggs throws a head kick that misses. Torres's corner calls for a 1-2. Torres obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Briggs misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Torres scores with a jab. Briggs slips a jab and a cross from Torres.
Briggs with a lazy takedown attempt and Briggs takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Logan Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him. Briggs tries to close the distance and clinch up but Torres swats him away and circles back towards the center. Briggs checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time. Torres with a poor takedown and Briggs counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Briggs swats away the attempt to clinch by Torres. Torres tries to close the distance and clinch but Briggs swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Torres shoots in and bounces Briggs off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Torres is pushing down on Briggs's leg trying to pass to half guard. Briggs is fighting to maintain full guard but Torres has managed to sneak the leg through. Torres wants to free his trapped foot but Briggs is holding on for dear life with his legs. Briggs works his way to full guard. Good work. Briggs has his foot on Torres's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Torres works his way back into a safe position though. Torres must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. This has been an exciting period of action! Torres wants to pass the guard but Briggs is keeping the position. Briggs keeping moving, preventing Torres from controlling successfully. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Skip Torres showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Torres is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Briggs with a poor takedown and Torres counters with a three punch combo that has Briggs backing up. Briggs nods at Torres to acknowledge the strikes. Briggs is looking to land body kicks. Torres avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Briggs has a takedown stuffed. Torres looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Briggs is fending him off so far but Torres persists. Nope, Briggs circles away and we're back to standing. Briggs wants to clinch. Logan Briggs is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Briggs throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Briggs fails with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Logan Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Nice sprawl there from Torres as Briggs shoots in. Torres closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Torres is working for a submission of some sort.
Torres is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Briggs wants to get back to full guard but Torres has mounted him! Torres is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Briggs has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Briggs! Briggs throws a big elbow that misses. Torres working a defensive guard but Briggs manages to pass into side control anyway.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Torres tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Briggs wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Torres is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Briggs is one step ahead and moves to full mount! Briggs tries to control but Torres wriggling away. Briggs lands a big shot there that rocks Torres but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Briggs controlling his opponent. Briggs avoids the attempt from Torres to control. Torres is trying desperately to improve position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Briggs lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Torres hang on? Briggs tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Skip Torres has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Torres tries to lock up and control but Briggs gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Briggs dominating with strikes here.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Logan Briggs. I think Briggs has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
