Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between John Star (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wilson Ruphin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruphin has chosen Ruff Neck as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Star swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruphin. Star throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ruphin. Ruphin wants to clinch. Star swats away the attempt to clinch by Ruphin. Star shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ruphin as he avoids it easily. Ruphin moves into range and clinches up with Star. Ruphin lands an elbow inside that Star shrugs off.
It looks like John Star has been cut. Ruphin's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ruphin comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Star is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Ruphin landing knees to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ruphin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Star shoots in but no luck this time. Star takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Star shoots in looking for a takedown but Ruphin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Star's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Star. That's going to take a lot out of him. Star leaves Ruphin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Ruphin is looking to clinch but Star is avoiding it.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Star can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ruphin controls the pace. Star controls Ruphin momentarily but Ruphin frees himself. Ruphin gets to his feet - Star follows without any prompting. Star will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Ruphin tries to clinch but Star moves out of range. No luck for Ruphin with that takedown attempt. Nice straight punches there by Star. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Star.

Ruphin gets tackled into the cage by Star. Star maintains the clinch. Star drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ruphin gets the underhooks and prevents it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Ruphin lands an elbow inside that Star shrugs off. Star takes a knee right on the jaw!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Star successfully pulls guard.
Ruphin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Star has his feet on Ruphin's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wilson Ruphin seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Star wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. John Star has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wilson Ruphin is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Ruphin is pressed up against the cage. Star has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Ruphin down to the mat. Ruphin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
And that's the end of the fight! Wilson Ruphin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ruphin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
