Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Fred Ned!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chael Sonnen!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A combination from Sonnen does no damage.
Sonnen looks to land a combination but Ned avoids it well.
Sonnen slips a jab and a cross from Ned.
Sonnen misses with a double jab.

Sonnen moves into range and clinches up with Ned.

Ned pulls guard successfully.
Sonnen stopping the sweep attempt from Ned.
Sonnen wants to stand but Ned is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ned is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ned is trying to keep Sonnen in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sonnen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Ned is proving hard to escape from.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ned is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Fred Ned just wasn't active enough.
Sonnen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ned slips a straight right by Sonnen.
Ned shoots for a double leg takedown but Sonnen sprawls well. He's pushed Ned's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Sonnen throws a right hand that Ned ducks under and follows up with a left that Ned also avoids with ease.
Sonnen fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Sonnen is looking to clinch but Ned is avoiding it.
Ned throws a right and a left that both miss.
Ned dives in and grabs Sonnen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sonnen pushes down on Ned's head and hops out.

Ned dodges the punch combination from Sonnen.
Ned showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Sonnen.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Ned wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Ned scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Ned with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Sonnen has hold of Ned's hands but Ned slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Ned stops Sonnen from getting back to his feet.
Sonnen really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ned. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Sonnen looks winded!
Sonnen is refusing to be controlled, as Ned sits in half guard.
It looks like Ned is going to stand back up.
Ned really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ned lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Ned takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Sonnen wants to get back to his feet.
It looks like Ned is going to stand back up.
Ned seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sonnen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ned drops an elbow to the side of Sonnen's head.
Sonnen scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Ned manages to mount him!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Ned scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Sonnen?
Ned with shots to the head and body - Sonnen looks very uncomfortable down there.
Ned controlling his opponent.
Sonnen is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Ned lands with some strikes.

Ned gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ned ducks under a wild hook from Sonnen.
Ned shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fred Ned. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sonnen lands a jab-cross combination.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Fred Ned dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sonnen scores with a jab to the head.

Sonnen fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ned to the ground. Sonnen is now in Ned's guard.
Ned is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sonnen wants to stand and escape but instead Ned has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Fred Ned overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ned controlling from the top position.
Sonnen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Ned slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ned sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Sonnen's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sonnen is looking to escape.
Sonnen is breathing heavily.
Ned has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sonnen has given up his back, trying to stand up. Not clever.

Ned has both hooks in and is working for a choke. Sonnen is in real trouble here. Ned gets an arm under the chin and tightens the submission attempt... is this the end? Yes, Sonnen is tapping out! Ned wins by rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Fred Ned!
