Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Kendall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Klaus Andersen! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kendall drops his hands momentarily and Andersen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Andersen fails with an attempt to clinch.
Kendall circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kendall lands with a shot to the body. Kendall throws the kick towards the body but Andersen avoids it. Nice straight punches there by Kendall. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Kendall. Kendall misses the shot to the body. Kendall avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Andersen tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kendall paws at him with a jab and circles away. Kendall stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Kendall wants it to stay on the feet. Kendall tries to keep at a distance but Andersen has taken the fight into the clinch. Kendall tries to break free but Andersen pushes him back against the cage. Andersen doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Andersen comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Andersen tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kendall smiles and moves away.
This has been an exciting period of action! Kendall circles away from the clinch attempt and Kendall counters with an inside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kendall scores with a leg kick.
Kendall keeps the fight on the outside. Andersen shoots in for a takedown but Kendall shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Chris Kendall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Klaus Andersen. Andersen slips a jab from Kendall. A head kick misses from Kendall. Andersen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Andersen fails in his attempt to clinch. Andersen throws a big shot that misses. Kendall misses with a jab, cross combination.
Andersen looks to clinch and Kendall counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Kendall goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Andersen wants to clinch but Kendall slips to the side and Kendall counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Andersen fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Kendall comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Andersen tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Kendall counters with a big head kick but Andersen shrugs it off.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The fight stays on the outside here - Andersen looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Andersen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kendall as he avoids it easily. Good leg kick by Kendall there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Andersen takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Andersen gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kendall cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Kendall lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Andersen looks to clinch and Kendall counters with a huge head kick that drops Andersen! The ref dives in to stop the fight and the crowd goes wild!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:44 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Chris Kendall! Chris Kendall managed to slip a mention for his sponsors, KAISER, into his post fight interview.
