PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Neeyo Collin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makoto Shibasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Collin comes to the cage accompanied by Bagsakan - Collaboration. Shibasaki has chosen Genki Sudo - 'Mind Shift' as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Neeyo Collin has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Neeyo Collin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Makoto Shibasaki!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Shibasaki as Collin shoots in.
Collin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shibasaki.
Collin lands a head shot.
Shibasaki digs a good hook to Collin's body.

Shibasaki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Collin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Shibasaki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Shibasaki is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shibasaki is on top in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Collin looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Collin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Shibasaki is one step ahead there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Neeyo Collin will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

enabling Collin to counter with a crisp jab.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Shibasaki.
Shibasaki throws a low kick but Collin moves out of range easily.
Shibasaki throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shibasaki blocks a jab.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Collin checks a leg kick.
Shibasaki takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Neeyo Collin has been cut.
Shibasaki tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Collin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Shibasaki doesn't seem bothered though.
Shibasaki throws a leg kick which misses Collin's front leg but catches the back leg as Collin tries to avoid it.
Collin circles away from the clinch attempt.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Collin crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Shibasaki - the referee stops the clock and Collin gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Shibasaki. Collin manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Shibasaki moves forwards but Collin connects with a nice, crisp jab.

letting Collin counter with a right hand.
Shibasaki takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Shibasaki misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Shibasaki lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Shibasaki throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Shibasaki lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Shibasaki throws a leg kick which misses Collin's front leg but catches the back leg as Collin tries to avoid it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Shibasaki bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Collin's guard.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Neeyo Collin.
Jab, jab by Collin - just one landing.
Shibasaki takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Shibasaki wants to clinch.
Collin shoots in but no luck this time.
Collin connects with a leg kick. Shibasaki looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Shibasaki.
Shibasaki throws a head kick that misses.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Shibasaki throws a sloppy head kick and Collin moves out of range easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Makoto Shibasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's time! Collin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Collin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Collin lands in his opponent's guard.

Shibasaki escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Collin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Collin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Neeyo Collin showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Collin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
