PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lenny Mclean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arthur Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Knight's choice of entrance music: Ya uedu zhit v London. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Arthur Knight!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Glass and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mclean stalks Knight and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Knight's face. Knight staggers backwards, shaken.


It looks like Arthur Knight has been cut.
Knight throws a sloppy head kick and Mclean moves out of range easily.

Knight fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mclean, pushing him back against the cage.
Mclean tries to break free but Knight pushes him back against the cage.
Mclean throws a punch but it's blocked by Knight.

Knight gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Knight controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Mclean keeping full guard, as Knight tries to pass.
Knight postures up.
Knight stopping the sweep attempt from Mclean.

Knight with a nice head shot there.
Knight loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Mclean throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Mclean working for a triangle but Knight defends it easily.
Knight is stalling in the full guard.
Mclean trying to keep a closed guard but Knight is proving a slippery customer.

Mclean escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Knight gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Knight gets to his feet. Mclean looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Mclean fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Knight rushes Mclean and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Knight's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Knight delivers a nice body kick.
Mclean is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mclean throws a series of punches but Knight moves out of range.

Knight looking to score a takedown here. Mclean is defending well but Knight drives through and ends up in Mclean's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knight is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Knight keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mclean's head.

Knight stands and steps away. Mclean gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Knight throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Knight moves into range and clinches up with Mclean.

Knight turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Knight content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
It looks like Knight might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Knight stands up and beckons Mclean to his feet.

Mclean has his takedown stuffed
and Knight counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Knight clinches.

Knight pulls Mclean into guard.
Knight looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Knight is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Knight can do anything to dispel that myth.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mclean throws an elbow that misses. Knight uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mclean's guard. Nice move by Knight!

Mclean is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Knight decides to stand back up. Knight steps back and let's Mclean get back to his feet.

Lenny Mclean seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mclean gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Knight to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Knight makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Knight is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Mclean shoots in and drives through. Knight sprawls well.

Knight closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mclean's guard.

Mclean wants to control the position but Knight says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Mclean leaves Knight with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Mclean connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mclean throws a series of punches but Knight moves out of range.

Mclean has managed to clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Mclean's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Knight gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mclean.
Mclean lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Knight unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Knight tightens his grip and picks Mclean up, before dumping him to the ground. Mclean manages to land in guard.

Mclean wants to sweep here but Knight controlling him for the moment.
Knight slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mclean takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Mclean shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Mclean wants to stand but Knight has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well Knight has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
