Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bray Wellington! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Juan Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramirez has his takedown stuffed and Wellington counters with a three punch combo that has Ramirez backing up. Ramirez nods at Wellington to acknowledge the strikes. Ramirez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Wellington counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Wellington throws a nice looking combination but Ramirez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt and Wellington connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Bray Wellington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Ramirez. Ramirez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Wellington as he avoids it easily. Ramirez drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Ramirez is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Wellington is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Wellington has escaped and now he's on top! Ramirez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wellington gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Wellington trying to control but Ramirez is working from the bottom. Ramirez is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Wellington defends well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wellington doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Ramirez is tightening it up a little... Wellington has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Wellington reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Wellington taps out! Nice BJJ there by Ramirez!
