Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mitchell MonRoe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and BJ Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). MonRoe comes to the cage accompanied by Press Trigger (Mad Cobra). Penn has chosen BJ Penn as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has MonRoe pinned against the cage. MonRoe gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. BJ Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. MonRoe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Penn paws at him with a jab and circles away. MonRoe rushes Penn and presses him up against the cage. MonRoe escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
MonRoe gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Penn counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Penn wants to control from the top but MonRoe keeps moving. MonRoe working for submissions but it's allowed Penn to get to half guard.
Penn is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
MonRoe wants to improve his position but Penn is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Penn in particular looking to stall. MonRoe trying to control from the bottom.
MonRoe gets full guard. MonRoe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. MonRoe is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Penn looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Penn looks gassed! Penn tries to roll over but MonRoe keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. MonRoe is looking to take a break and control but Penn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Penn slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn is looking for a triangle but MonRoe pushes his legs off easily.
MonRoe throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Penn works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Penn throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! MonRoe escapes and throws Penn's legs to the side, diving into side control! Penn struggling a bit here. Penn sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Penn tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. The fighters are battling for position here. Penn manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
MonRoe knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Penn on the ground. MonRoe is squirming around, avoiding Penn's attempts to control the action. Penn pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Penn working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. MonRoe turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Penn off and cradles MonRoe's limp body as Penn celebrates with his corner.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). BJ Penn!
