Avalon kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Harder Better Faster - Daft Punk. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, James Avalon! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Eildon Heap! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Avalon lands a body shot.
Heap tries to clinch up but Avalon circles away and keeps his distance. Heap's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Avalon connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Heap scrambles back to his feet. Avalon works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Avalon fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Heap, pushing him back against the cage. Avalon tries to work over Heap's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Avalon drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
A short left from Avalon. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Heap throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Heap lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
It looks like James Avalon has been cut. Avalon is looking for a takedown. Heap misses with a knee to the head. Avalon struggles to land a body shot inside as Heap controls his hands.
Heap lands an elbow that stopped Avalon in his tracks for a moment. Avalon is looking to control Heap's arms but Heap gets an underhook and turns him. Now Avalon has his back to the cage. Avalon working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. Heap throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round. Avalon misses with a hook to the ribs.
Heap lands an elbow inside. A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Heap with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head. Avalon is looking to control Heap's arms but Heap gets an underhook and turns him. Now Avalon has his back to the cage. Avalon decides to pull guard. Avalon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Heap gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Avalon pulls Heap in close to his closed guard and prevents Heap from doing any damage or advancing position. Heap controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Avalon looking to control.
Avalon has control of Heap's left arm, preventing Heap from doing any damage. Heap got a little sloppy there for a moment and Avalon has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Heap has managed to get both his arms back between Avalon's legs - danger averted. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Avalon bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Heap's guard. Avalon tries to free his leg and advance position but Heap is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Heap keeping moving, preventing Avalon from controlling successfully. Avalon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Heap is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Avalon, into his guard. Avalon is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Heap rolls with it to try and escape but Avalon cranks on the arm and Heap is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
