Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hunter Risley! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brian Harris! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Harris moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Harris tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Risley throws a sloppy head kick and Harris moves out of range easily. Harris tries to clinch up but Risley circles away and keeps his distance. Hunter Risley seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Harris gets in close and instigates a clinch. Harris gets underhooks to prevent Risley's takedown attempt.
Harris lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Risley backwards. Harris has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Harris lands a right hand. Risley is trying to break free. Risley tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Harris smiles and moves away.
Harris fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Risley on the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Donk. Harris catches Risley right on the button with a cross. A head kick misses from Risley. Nice combo by Harris! Oh, that's hurt him - Risley falls to the canvas and Harris follows him into side control.
Risley is rocked! Risley on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Risley tries to get out of the position. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Harris tries to get to his feet but Risley is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Harris in his guard. Oh Risley is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Harris must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Harris is working Risley over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Risley is adopting a defensive guard. Risley seems to have got his legs back now. Risley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Harris trying to control the position from guard on top but Risley is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Risley bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Harris's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Risley stopping the sweep attempt from Harris. Risley stands up from Harris's guard - Risley perhaps looking for a knockout. The fight moves into the clinch position. A short uppercut from Harris.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Risley manages to break the clinch.
Harris fails in his attempt to clinch. Harris misses with a series of wild punches.
Risley looks for a takedown but Harris sprawls well. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hunter Risley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harris lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Risley throws a sloppy head kick and Harris moves out of range easily. Harris lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Risley rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Harris counters with a left and a right that stings Risley. Harris wants to clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harris feints a jab promting Risley to slip. Harris then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Risley slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Harris misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Harris lands a jab-cross combination. Harris works Risley's body with a nice hook. Harris scores with a nice right hand.
Harris is working the combinations to good effect here. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Risley has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Risley drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Harris is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Harris dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Risley looking to score a takedown here. Harris is defending well but Risley drives through and ends up in Harris's guard. Risley postures up.
Harris looking to hit a scissor sweep but Risley is one step ahead there. Harris wants to stand up but Risley is controlling him. Risley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Risley in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Harris utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Risley decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Harris is looking to clinch. Risley swings widly with a right hand
and Harris counters with a nice uppercut. Risley shoots in for a takedown but Harris shows good takedown defense. Risley closes the distance and pushes Harris back into the cage. A short body shot lands from Harris as the two fighters clinch.
Risley tries to score a body lock takedown but Harris shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Harris pushes Risley back against the cage and unloads with a body punch. Risley tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Harris wants to break the clinch but can't.
Harris is trying to break the clinch but Risley is controlling him. Harris lands a body punch. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Harris lands a body shot in the clinch.
Risley keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Harris's efforts to push away. Harris is looking to break free of the clinch but Risley has double underhooks. Harris gets through Risley's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Harris works on Risley's body with a couple of short punches. Risley is trying to pull guard but Harris turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hunter Risley. That's going to take a lot out of him. Harris wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Harris is trying to force a seperation but Risley has the dominant position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A quick uppercut on the inside from Harris. Harris cracks Risley with a nice body shot. A short uppercut from Harris. Risley is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Harris pulls him back up using the underhooks. Harris stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body. Harris scores with a hook to the body. Harris digs a right hand into Risley's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Risley's gas tank. Harris lands a shot to the body. A frustrated look appears on Harris's face as he tries to break the clinch. Harris is looking to break free of the clinch but Risley has double underhooks. Risley is trying to force a seperation but Harris has the dominant position. A shot in the inside from Harris. Harris tries to stall but Risley uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Harris pushes Risley back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. A nice left hand lands by Harris.
Brian Harris seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far. Harris is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Risley has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Harris after a bit of a struggle. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Harris has had enough of the clinch but Risley keeps him there for the moment. A hook to the body from Harris.
Risley tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Harris smiles and moves away.
Risley is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Risley with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Harris to score with a decent uppercut. Harris has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Harris lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Harris showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Harris! Risley is backing up but he can't get away as Harris lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Risley and ends the fight. Great knockout.
