The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reeves throws a low kick but Paul avoids it. Paul moves out of range of the body kick. Reeves has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Reeves there as he acknowledges the shot. Reeves keeps the fight on the outside. Reeves looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Paul! Reeves controlling the position easily from mount. Reeves putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Reeves with the ground and pound from mount. Reeves content just to control the position here. Paul wants to control but Reeves is having none of it. Reeves lands a big shot there that rocks Paul but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Paul tries to close the distance and clinch but Reeves swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Paul checks a leg kick nicely. Paul blocks a head kick by Reeves.
Reeves looks for a takedown but Paul sprawls well. Paul with a lazy takedown attempt and Reeves decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Paul's guard. Paul tries to land a sweep but no joy. Reeves is working Paul over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Paul keeping moving, preventing Reeves from controlling successfully.

Reeves is looking for a kimura but Paul is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Reeves to get the leverage. Reeves scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Reeves takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Paul wants to improve his position but Reeves is controlling well.

Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Paul. Paul is trying to stand.
