Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gus Dengel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Renzo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dengel kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Papillon. Gus Dengel has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
26 - 17 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Gus Dengel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
30 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Renzo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Marco Blurström and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dengel closes this distance looking for a takedown but Gracie circles away.
Gus Dengel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie has his takedown stuffed
and Dengel counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Dengel shoots in looking for a takedown. Gracie tries to sprawl out of it but Dengel keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gracie manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Dengel shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gracie as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gus Dengel. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie shoots and misses
and Dengel counters with a nice low kick that buckles Gracie's knee momentarily.
Dengel looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gracie is fending him off so far but Dengel persists. Nope, Gracie circles away and we're back to standing.
Gracie tries to bum rush Dengel with a series of wild strikes but Dengel uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Dengel shoots for a takedown but Gracie saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Gracie drives through with a takedown into Dengel's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Gracie has gone for a leg lock! Dengel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gracie's guard.
Gracie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dengel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gracie is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dengel is aware though and is defending well.

Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gracie is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dengel frees his head nicely. Oh but Gracie has switched to an armbar! Dengel is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
