PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Tingtong Tunay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diogo Duarte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duarte has chosen Dragon ball GT as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tingtong Tunay!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diogo Duarte!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Frank Dennis and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duarte changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tunay looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Tunay looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Duarte tries to stand but Tunay is controlling his head.

Duarte is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tunay knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Duarte wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Tunay, who protects the arm well.
Tunay might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Tunay dodges the ground and pound from Duarte.
Duarte in side control lands a decent elbow.
Tunay sneaks back into half guard.
Tunay tries to get to full guard but Duarte has control of the leg.

Duarte really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tunay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Tunay is looking to improve his position.
Duarte seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tunay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Duarte winds up and cracks Tunay with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Duarte is going to stand back up.

Duarte seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tunay does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Duarte is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Diogo Duarte was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Duarte shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Duarte was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Tunay tries to bench press Duarte off him but Duarte keeps the position.

Duarte is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Tunay has escaped the position, nice work there.
Duarte wants to stand but Tunay is controlling his arm.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Duarte thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Tunay drops back looking for a leg! Duarte is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Duarte manages to kick Tunay off! Tunay jumps back into Duarte's guard.

Tunay has gone for a leg lock! Duarte slips out almost immediately though and dives into Tunay's guard.
Tunay utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Duarte is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Duarte is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Duarte thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Duarte gets to his feet - Tunay follows without any prompting.
Tingtong Tunay is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Tunay takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Duarte wants to lay and pray for a moment but Tunay keeps working.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Tunay tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Duarte presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Tunay can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diogo Duarte showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Duarte fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Tunay sprawls well initially but Duarte persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tunay is refusing to be controlled, as Duarte sits in half guard.

Duarte is keen to just control but Tunay is a slippery customer.

Duarte wants to control from the top but Tunay keeps moving.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Duarte got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tunay has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Duarte has managed to get both his arms back between Tunay's legs - danger averted.

Diogo Duarte comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Duarte has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
