Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dave Bower (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jase Newson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bower comes to the cage accompanied by When I'm With You. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dave Bower!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 32 - 11 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Jase Newson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab from Bower.
Bower sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Dave Bower seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bower shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bower showed some decent athleticism there.
Bower with the ground and pound but Newson uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Bower avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Bower working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Newson seems keen to control Bower's posture.
Bower postures up in Newson's guard and throws a big left but Newson blocks it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Bower drops back, looking for a kneebar! Newson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Newson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Newson!

Bower is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Newson wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bower keeps working.
Bower wants to control but Newson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Newson seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bower tries to score with a low kick but Newson moves his leg out of the way.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Newson scores with a jab. Bower acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A jab from Newson does it's job there.
Bower shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Newson but Newson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Newson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Bower can pounce on him.
Newson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Bower momentarily.
Newson looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
A low kick from Newson is predictable there
and Bower counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Newson stuns Bower with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Newson slips under a jab.
Newson throws a hook to the side of Bower's head but Bower sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Bower swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Newson.
Newson fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Bower manages to avoid it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bower throws a leg kick but Newson moved away.
Bower uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Newson.
Newson throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Bower fails to land with a series of punches.
Bower scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Bower connects with a nice looking jab.
Bower swings for the body but Newson moves out of range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Newson.
Bower throws a low kick but it's checked well by Newson.
Bower misses with a body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bower throws a series of strikes that have Newson backpedaling.
Newson walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Bower checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
A slow jab from Bower misses its intended target.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Bower dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Bower takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Newson ducks under a wild hook from Bower.
Newson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Bower at a distance.
Newson checks a leg kick.
Dave Bower is winning the standup battle so far.
Bower bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bower throws a sloppy head kick
and Newson counters with a low kick, right behind Bower 's knee.
Bower moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Bower lands a glancing blow to the side of Newson's head.
Newson swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bower pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Newson connects with a right hand. Bower shakes it off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bower defending well as Newson loads up on a big left hand.
Newson checks the leg kick.
Bower takes a shot right to the bread basket.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Newson avoids the body shot from Bower.
Bower ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Newson moves away.
Bower throws a leg kick
and Newson counters with an inside leg kick.
Bower is looking to slow Newson down with leg kicks.
Bower looks to throw the jab but Newson is out of range.
Newson feints and then cracks Bower's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Bower down.
The fighters circling - Newson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The crowd cheers as Newson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Bower doesn't seem phased though.
Newson uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bower has time to react.
Newson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bower misses with a lunging right hand
and Newson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Newson throws a wild body kick that Bower sees coming a mile off.

Newson lands a left and a right that send Bower crashing to the mat, dazed. Newson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Bower is rocked!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bower throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Oh Bower is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jase Newson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bower shoots in but Newson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Newson throws a body kick that misses.
Bower seems to have got his legs back now.
Newson lands a big head kick that sends Bower to the canvas! Newson follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jase Newson!
