PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Cub Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reggie Kray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Swanson has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Cub Swanson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Reggie Kray!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Steven Brown and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kray darts in trying to clinch

and Swanson counters by moving into the clinch.
Swanson is breathing heavily.

Kray's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Kray shoots in and bounces Swanson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Kray got a little sloppy there for a moment and Swanson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kray has managed to get both his arms back between Swanson's legs - danger averted.

Kray dives in and grabs Swanson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Swanson pushes down on Kray's head and hops out.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Swanson slaps away a takedown attempt from Kray, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kray buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Swanson is looking for a sweep.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee asks Kray politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kray prefers to stall for the moment though.
Kray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Swanson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kray wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Swanson, who protects the arm well.

Well, if Kray is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Swanson is looking to work some ground and pound but Kray has wrist control.

Swanson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Swanson with a flurry of punches that miss.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Kray is adopting a defensive guard.
Swanson is in close to Kray's body, working some short punches and elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cub Swanson will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Cub Swanson.
I think Swanson has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
