Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Eric Hamilton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Steven Rutter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Steven Rutter will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Hamilton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Steven Rutter!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutter fails to land with a series of punches.
Rutter fails with an attempt to clinch.
Rutter jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Rutter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hamilton backs up against the cage.
Rutter moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Rutter throws a one two combo.


Hamilton is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Rutter throws a jab but it's blocked by Hamilton.

Hamilton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hamilton showed some decent athleticism there.

Hamilton is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rutter is just riding it out for now. Hamilton eventually gives up the hold.
Rutter wants to get back to his feet.

Hamilton lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Rutter is refusing to be controlled, as Hamilton sits in half guard.
Hamilton not landing any meaningful shots this time.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hamilton is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rutter avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Hamilton.

Rutter avoids a strike by Hamilton and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Hamilton's guard! Fantastic escape!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hamilton is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hamilton manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rutter holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Hamilton tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steven Rutter dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rutter attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Rutter swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Rutter throws a looping overhand right but Hamilton ducks down to avoid it.
Hamilton throws the kick towards the body but Rutter avoids it.

Hamilton sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Rutter is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Rutter tries to buck Hamilton off but Hamilton is having none of it.

Rutter throws Hamilton to one side and escapes!

Hamilton decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hamilton decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Hamilton looks for a takedown but Rutter sprawls well.
Eric Hamilton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rutter throws a lazy right hand but Hamilton sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Hamilton bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Hamilton swings around for an armbar but Rutter sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Hamilton's guard.
Hamilton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hamilton looking for a sweep. Not yet Hamilton, not yet.
Rutter wants to control from the top but Hamilton keeps moving.
Rutter controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Hamilton throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hamilton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Rutter has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hamilton is proving hard to escape from.
Rutter wants to control from the top but Hamilton keeps moving.
Hamilton looking for a sweep. Not yet Hamilton, not yet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rutter throws a hook to the side of Hamilton's head but Hamilton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Hamilton keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rutter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Hamilton dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Rutter wants to hold on but Hamilton pushes him away.

Hamilton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rutter is looking to escape.
You get the feeling that Rutter really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Rutter is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Eric Hamilton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Hamilton breaks from Rutter's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Eric Hamilton showed his dominance in that final round.
