Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason King (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jason King!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King keeps the fight on the outside.
Some wild striking there from Mir.
Mir swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Mir tries to sprawl but King drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
King uses his free foot to push down on Mir's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mir.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mir tries to lock up and control but King gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
King putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
King throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Mir because King loaded up on that one.
Mir wants to control but King is having none of it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mir is wriggling around trying to escape.
King looking to control but Mir is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Mir working to try and regain half guard.
King wants to get back to his feet but Mir is holding on tight.

King looking to finish with strikes here!
Mir squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Mir keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
King wants to control but instead Mir manages to regain half guard.
Mir keeping hold of King's head, controlling as best he can.
Mir is trying to maintain the position but King is very close to passing his half guard.

King tries to pass to full mount but Mir defends it.
King seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Mir does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
King tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mir keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Mir is looking to control King's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mir avoid being mounted?
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Mir is doing well to control the position and prevent King from advancing to side control.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mir fails to land the takedown.

King looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
King tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Mir.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
King not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Mir wants to control but King is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Still in half guard, King seems content to control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Mir trying to control but King postures up.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Mir lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but King circles away quickly and effectively.
Mir fails with a takedown attempt.

King looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Mir is breathing heavily.

Mir has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. King is working away from the top position though.
Mir is trying to stand.
Mir works his way to full guard. Good work.
King preventing the sweep.
King prevents Mir from getting back to his feet.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
King looking to pass the guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
King wants to control from the top but Mir keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sloppy strikes from Mir. Those never looked like landing.
Mir fails with a takedown attempt.
King scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

King closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Mir's guard.
King trying to control but Mir is working from the bottom.
King might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Mir haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
King postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mir trying to keep a closed guard but King is proving a slippery customer.
Mir trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Mir is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
King not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason King wasn't active enough on the ground.
Mir shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
King shoots in but no luck this time.
King circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mir lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Jason King has been cut.
Mir shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. King defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mir doesn't manage to clinch there - King circles away.
Mir fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

King has managed to clinch.
King drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mir pulls his leg out and moves away.

King closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Mir quickly recovers to half guard.
Mir is trying to get back to full guard.
King wants to control but Mir is keeping him busy.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
King uses his free foot to push down on Mir's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Mir.

BOOM! King connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Mir is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
King landing shots from mount.
Mir is looking to improve his position but King isn't that keen on the idea.

King is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Mir has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Mir!
Mir is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Mir slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Mir wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
King throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

King keeping full guard, as Mir tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Frank Mir.

Mir clinches up against the cage.
King wants to stall.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Mir wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but King has him pressed against the cage.
Mir lands with a short shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Jason King's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



King gets in close and instigates a clinch.
King's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Mir trying to land knees to the body.
King is trying to pull guard but Mir turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Mir fails to pull guard.
King stops a takedown attempt from Mir.

King jumps guard.

King looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mir wants to control from the top but King keeps moving.
Mir content to stall in guard here.
Mir tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard.

Mir trying to control but King is working from the bottom.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Mir with a flurry of punches that miss.
King working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mir.
King wants to sweep but no luck.
Mir advances position into side control!
Mir prevents King from escaping the position.
King takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mir is looking to take a break and control but King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
King can't do much from the bottom here.

King tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Mir trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Mir scoring with strikes but King is staying in there.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mir has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of King's face.

King is trying to escape the mount.
Mir sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Mir trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Frank Mir has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

King tries to lock up and control but Mir gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Mir lands a big shot there that rocks King but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Mir tries to control but King wriggling away.
King is still in real trouble! Can Mir finish him?
Mir is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. King can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mir looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Jason King is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Mir thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Mir showed his dominance in that final round.
I think King has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
