Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chris Rautner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Mendes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chad Mendes will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chris Rautner! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chad Mendes! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Horrible takedown by Rautner or perhaps it was just good defense by Mendes which made him look bad. Mendes shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rautner sprawls well. Rautner wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mendes gets slowly back to his feet. Mendes wants to clinch and Rautner counters by clinching up. Rautner has Mendes pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mendes manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Mendes is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Rautner to keep the fight standing. Rautner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Mendes connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
It looks like Chris Rautner has been cut. Mendes cracks Rautner with a good jab. Mendes misses with a combination
and Rautner counters by clinching up. Rautner holding his opponent close, against the cage.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rautner changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mendes fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chris Rautner. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes closes the distance and clinches up with Rautner, looking for a takedown. Mendes pushes Rautner against the cage but Rautner circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Rautner tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mendes sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Rautner somewhat. Mendes shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rautner defends it nicely. Mendes connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rautner momentarily.
Mendes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rautner swivels and escapes. Mendes stuffs the takedown. Excellent takedown into side control there by Rautner.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mendes is trying to get back to half guard. Rautner remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Rautner stands up. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rautner looking to score a takedown here. Mendes is defending well but Rautner drives through and ends up in Mendes's guard. Mendes looks winded!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendes not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rautner stands up from Mendes's guard - Rautner perhaps looking for a knockout. Rautner shoots in for a takedown but Mendes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rautner slaps away a takedown attempt from Mendes, before circling back to the center of the mat. Rautner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mendes sprawls well. Mendes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rautner gets slowly back to his feet. Mendes tries to clinch and Rautner holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Rautner has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Mendes clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mendes covering up well and avoiding damage. Rautner is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Mendes is defending well though. Rautner let's go of the attempt for now. Rautner misses with punches from the back. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rautner throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage. Mendes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rautner. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Rautner misses with punches from the back. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Rautner dominated that round. The cut man is working on Chris Rautner's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Rautner moves into the clinch successfully.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Rautner is looking to take this one to the mat. Rautner successfully pulls guard.
Rautner keeping moving, preventing Mendes from controlling successfully. Rautner is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Mendes preventing the sweep. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Mendes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Rautner has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Mendes wanted to stand there but Rautner had control of the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Mendes is fighting to break Rautner's control of his arms but Rautner is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Chad Mendes. Rautner rushes Mendes and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Rautner wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mendes has him pressed against the cage. Mendes creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rautner pulls Mendes into guard.
Rautner escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mendes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Mendes looking to sit in guard and control but Rautner gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Mendes throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Mendes throws his legs up looking for a submission but Rautner uses it to pass to side control.
Rautner looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mendes is trying to strike from the bottom but Rautner has passed into full mount. Rautner manages to capitalize on a mistake by Mendes to take his back! Rautner tries to keep control of the position but Mendes is staying busy. Mendes avoids the strikes from Rautner. Rautner keeps control of the position as Mendes tries to break free.
Mendes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Rautner gets his way!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rautner looking for the RNC. Rautner working for a choke but Mendes is defending well. Mendes holding both Rautner 's hands and preventing any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Rautner dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Chris Rautner's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Mendes fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Rautner gets a double leg takedown into Mendes's guard. Rautner controlling from the top position. Mendes looking to control but Rautner passes into half guard.
Rautner perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mendes is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rautner pulls his head out easily. Mendes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Rautner with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Rautner works his way into full mount! Mendes is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Rautner thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Mendes is desperately trying to improve his position but Rautner has a good base and remains in mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rautner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Rautner thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Rautner looking to control and managing it successfully. Poor strikes thrown by Rautner there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Rautner wants to control the pace but Mendes is squirming around nicely. Rautner looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rautner thowing shots but they're missing. Rautner misses with a head shot. Mendes blocking the ground and pound. Rautner wants to control the pace but Mendes is squirming around nicely. Rautner looking to ground and pound but Mendes is blocking nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rautner sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Mendes tries to get back to half guard but can't. Rautner is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Mendes can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Rautner looking to secure an arm triangle but Mendes defends it well. Rautner throwing strikes here but Mendes is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
And that's the end of the fight! Chris Rautner showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Rautner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
