The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mar pinned against the cage. Mar gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mar scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Mar tries to clinch there but Stevens circles away.
Mar fails in his attempt to clinch.
Stevens shoots in for a double leg but Mar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Mar darts in and clinches Stevens up against the cage.

Mar breaks the clinch.
Mar wants to clinch.
Mar lands a head shot.
Mar tries to clinch up but Stevens circles away and keeps his distance.
Stevens throws an overhand right that lands on Mar's shoulder, as Mar tries to avoid the shot.
AJ Mar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stevens pushes Mar off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

and Stevens counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mar won't be happy with that.

Stevens decides to stand back up. Stevens steps back and let's Mar get back to his feet.
Mar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Stevens moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Mar. Stevens shrugs it off though.
AJ Mar is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mar tries to clinch but Stevens moves away

and Stevens counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mar!
Stevens is breathing heavily.
Stevens won't let Mar get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Mar's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Mar is squirming around, avoiding Stevens's attempts to control the action.
Stevens in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Mar avoids a series of strikes thrown by Stevens.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Stevens fails to advance to Mar's back.
Stevens wants to control the pace but Mar is squirming around nicely.

Mar feints and then cracks Stevens's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Stevens down.

Mar blocks a body shot from Stevens.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stevens has had enough of the clinch but Mar keeps him there for the moment.

Mar throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Stevens blocks it with crossed arms.

James Stevens is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

AJ Mar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mar digs a right hand underneath Stevens's ribcage. Stevens let out a lung full of air as it connected.

Stevens drops down looking for an ankle pick but Mar pulls his leg out and moves away.

Mar tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Stevens paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Mar throws a leg kick which misses Stevens's front leg but catches the back leg as Stevens tries to avoid it.
Mar throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stevens swats away the attempt to clinch by Mar.
Mar lands a nice looking body kick.

Mar looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

and Stevens counters with a nice double leg into side control. Mar won't be happy with that.

Stevens throws an elbow but Mar slips to the side and avoids it well.
Stevens slows the pace down.
Stevens tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mar is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

AJ Mar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
